Three Jerome Installation Art Commissions The Show featured three strong installations by Jason Brown, Laura Migliorino, and Mike Rathbun. The considerable force of Rathbun's untitled piece rests in the clarity and confidence suggested by the simplicity of his materials--raw lumber and nails and his single minded, seemingly obsessive process. He builds a floor, beams, rafters, and a roof; yet its a strange and irrational place that he fabricates. Under foot the floor boards lose solidity, taking the form of waves arrested in motion. Over head the roof warps into a graceful curve, like a wind filled sail or the hollow of a boat. And since the rafters dont support the roof from below, but rather grow up out of it, it is as if, in this small pocket of the universe, gravity works in reverse, forcing the structure to fall upward....
